still here

but it feels like a very long time

since I last updated this, but I am determined to keep it going; this blog will be taking a new direction soon, with more emphasis on personal projects, but in the meantime…

so what’s been happening over the last few months? it is July now, almost August and I think the last time I wrote on here it was May. The reason I have been awol is simply due to working long days, which whilst exhausting, have been fantastic. The studio is now so comfortable it feels like home, the kitchen and ‘client area’ is covered in plants, pots and pans, there is a herb garden outside the studio in the courtyard, with oregano, basil, chive, mint and coriander plants, a rescued chestnut sapling called ‘Steve’ inside and a beautiful oil painting of Havana hanging on the wall alongside some Turkey prints. The community here is also very strong, so it makes for a great place to work and I can even hand out all of the food after shoots, so everyone is happy. Marc has even been eating pies for breakfast, there have been so many..

the large unmentionable project for Sainsbury’s, I suppose I can say that much, the source of some of my long days, is gradually coming to an end, with the middle of August being touted as the end point. Come the first of September I can tell all and my website and portfolio will be updated dramatically too. The last couple of months has also seen a few shoots for Essentials, with the Christmas issue looming fast, a Health and Fitness book which is being published in January, half of which was shot on the beaches of the Maldives whilst I stayed in the studio in Clapham, so I’ll update the website later in the year with that. It’s also seen a couple of new clients, with a great shoot this friday for one, following me sending out some cards with a hipstamatic polaroid image of an old ketchup bottle on the front.. William Eggleston would hopefully be proud of my effort

whilst trying to stay fit I’ve also sustained a stress fracture to my left tibia within my knee, so I’ve been told no running, plenty of rest and not too much standing, which is always a little tricky when you work on your feet all day, so I’m standing on my right leg only.. the doc didn’t rule out cycling though, so it’s a good excuse to get on the bike more. The upside of all of this was that I experienced an MRI scan, which was a novel experience, in the car park of Paddington hospital in a large lorry. Hooray for the NHS. Hooray for my old friend Ade too, a doctor at Charing X, who insisted on looking at my knee when I complained it hurt a little and then organised to get it sorted.

Other than all that I took a weekend trip to Southern Germany again for the wedding of two of Meli’s friends and then more recently to Stockholm to experience it in the summer instead of -15 degrees. I love that place. The weather was beautiful and the water surrounding all the islands very refreshing.. I could very easily live there, if the drinks were only about £7 cheaper each it would possibly have everything.. great design, beautiful light, great people, lingonberries..
