a summer shoot on a rainy day
over the last year or so I have been shooting every month for Essentials magazine, in fact it must be about a year as I don’t think I’ve had the pleasure of shooting roast turkey for Christmas editions in August yet, and this month it was time to shoot a summer feature for the July magazine and whilst a couple of weeks before, when shooting for the June magazine, the weather had been beautiful and ‘summer like’, this time it was very different..

unfortunately we were shooting in the pouring rain plus it was blowing a gale, quite literally – in fact it was so cold I had to be kitted out in my skiing hat (which had been mocked just a few hours before) and waterproof jacket; poor Jen (Essentials food editor) had to run from kitchen to the set out in her garden, occasionally to help me catch the tent we were shooting under to prevent it blowing away.. but it was ok, because I knew that come august, I would be back in the studio shooting the Christmas features and it would undoubtedly be the hottest day of the year
it is also worth mentioning that Essentials Magazine won the IPC Magazine of the year with a special mention to the food pages, so congratulations to Jen, Lucy and Phil.
the results will be out in the July magazine – looking forward to seeing it
