Nottingham University Course Director
Brian Case, course director of the MSc in Biological Photography and Imaging, has sadly passed away.
he was a great inspiration to all of us who studied on the course at Nottingham – he was kind, enthusiastic and dedicated to his students and I personally have a great deal to thank him for…
many years ago and wanting to change my corporate career, I was looking for a Masters that combined biology and photography and as a huge stroke of luck a new course had recently been started at Nottingham that Brian was responsible for, the only course of it’s kind in the UK.
Sadly I was too late to apply and all of the places had been assigned, but determined to get on the course I traveled that week to Nottingham to speak to Brian personally and found that his enthusiasm and support for the course was so great that I was keener than ever to start it.
some 3 months later I started the course and haven’t looked back since.
after the course I have returned every year to lecture the new students and continue to do so and was always happy to see Brian and catch up with the latest course news and discuss his favorite team, Nottingham Forest.
I never had the opportunity to thank him for all his help, as I feel I wouldn’t be here now without him, but hopefully he realised through every student on the course and every student that ever completed the course, that our enthusiasm and willingness to work every hour of the year and our pursuit of careers that we love, was in a way, thanks.
he shall be sorely missed but not forgotten
